Job Overview
The Marketing Assistant is responsible for overseeing and creating the OMU marketing plan for name and brand recognition. This is a temporary contract position for a short term project for a total of 50-60 hours between September - December paid with a stipend that averages $15 an hour. This position is completely remote with potential hybrid opportunities if you request.

We are seeking individuals with a strong interest in integrated marketing and/or social media with a desire to learn and grow in the field. Marketing Assistants should have an understanding of marketing principles and concepts, with a creative mindset with an eye for attention to detail. In addition, a positive attitude, team player, and willingness to take initiative is important to the success of this position and execution of this project. The ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time in an organized and effective way is crucial.

The scope of this project will focus on increasing OMU’s presence and name recognition specifically targeting Columbia and Elkridge, within Howard County, reducing organizational capacity spent on name recognition and awareness efforts, and assisting in development of marketing materials and strategies that increase annual donations.


We plan on hiring 2-3 Marketing Assistants for this project. 

Reports To
The Marketing Assistant will work with the other Marketing Assistants and organizational leadership throughout this project.

Preferred/Required Experiences

  • Pursuing a degree in Marketing or a related field

  • Strong verbal, writing, and communication skills

  • Experience working with different social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Linkedin

  • Can work in highly collaborative in a remote work environment with a team

  • Experience with graphic design and content creation using tools such as Canva

  • Ability to write clearly and concisely

  • Knowledge of marketing skills

  • Strong creativity and thinking outside the box

  • Familiarity with Canva and Google Suite
     

Core Responsibilities and Duties

  • You will work with the marketing team to assist in implementing integrated marketing campaigns, social media executions that effectively communicate our brand message to our target audience

  • Collaborate with other Marketing Assistants to work on product deliverables that address the needs of this short term project

  • Stay up to date with social media trends and marketing best practices and share relevant insights with the team

  • Creating infographics and content for social media

  • Assist in the creation of mock ups, email campaigns, online promotions, and organizational stationary

  • Assist in preparing press materials to elevate the organizationals recognition

  • Assist in the development and implementation of integrated marketing strategies and campaigns

  • Assist in content creation and brainstorming ideas

  • Tasks and assignments will vary based on current workload and projects

  • Any other marketing related projects and tasks as assigned
