Adona Wimberly, PhD

Board Chair

Adona Wimberly, Ph.D. and her family have lived in the Oakland Mills area for over 20 years. She has volunteered her time and energy in the Oakland Mills community which includes having been a Parent Liaison for the Black Student Achievement Program’s Saturday Math Academy and a Member of the Oakland Mills Education Committee Association.

Professionally, Dr. Wimberly is a Clinical Psychologist and recently became the Founder and Director of Patuxent Counseling and Consulting, LCC (PCC). PCC specializes in providing culturally competent mental health services and promotes well-being at large through training, supervision, advocacy, and consulting to enhance both community awareness and quality of services to people across cultures. Over the past 30 years, Dr. Wimberly has provided mental health services in various settings such as hospitals,
outpatient clinics, college campus counseling centers, senior living communities and nursing homes.

Additionally, Dr. Wimberly has been involved in academia for over 25 years and has taught undergraduate and/or graduate students at Trinity University (formerly Trinity College), Loyola University of Maryland (formerly Loyola College), Bowie State University, and Morgan State University. Dr. Wimberly loves her family life. She also enjoys music, cooking, reading, writing poetry, devotional time, watching movies, and walking or jogging on the paths in the Oakland Mills community.
